Auburn is better than Alabama. It's a fact...

Well, the 2000's decade is over and let's face it...Auburn compares itself to Alabama and Alabama compares itself to Auburn. Both teams hate each other and both teams want to be better than each other. As Auburn fans, we want to beat Alabama in womens basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, chess and anything else we play them in. Football though, is King. Auburn fans want to beat Alabama in football more than anything else and we also want our football program to be better than theirs. Anyone who says otherwise, according to Jim Fyffe and yours truely for that matter, "Isn't to be trusted."

So, I decided to take a look at what happened in the decade of the 2000's and try and figure out just who was the state of Alabama's team of the decade.

The first stat that I thought would be the most telling would be plain and simple:
Overall Record
Auburn was 88-39 from 2000-2009 which comes out to a 69% winning percentage.
Alabama was 79-48 from 2000-2009 which comes out to a 62% winning percentage.

The next stat should obviously be:
Head to Head match-ups
Auburn beat Alabama in 2000, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06 and 07 winning 7 out of 10 games in the decade.

But let's dig further....
Conference Record
Auburn went 52-28 in the SEC during the last decade.
Alabama went 46-34.

Non-Conference Record
Auburn went 36-11 outside of the SEC
Alabama went 33-14.

Bowl Record
Auburn did well in bowls going 6-3.
Alabama went 4-3.

Record Against Non-BCS Opponents
Auburn dominated Non-BCS Opponents running a perfect 25-0 record.
Alabama went 25-6

Numbers don't lie. Yes Alabama, you may have won yourself another mythical national championship, but Auburn is the state of Alabama's team of the decade. In the decade of the 2000's Auburn was better than Alabama....It's a fact.
