Early 2011 list...

Auburn will probably sign close to the 25 player limit next year because of graduation and attrition, which will probably mean an actual signing class of around 30. I expect Auburn will sign at least one QB and maybe 2. Offensive and defensive line will be a big focus again this year as well. Auburn will sign several linemen on both sides of the ball and will also want to add to the depth of the defense by signing several LB's and DB's. Here is a very early list of 2011 recruits Auburn is interested in. Many of these guys will fall off the radar and several new names will pop up. This is just an early list of recruits Auburn has either offered or is watching closely. Also, the teams listed by each player are the teams that are recruiting the player the hardest, but does not neccessarily mean the player has an offer...War Eagle!
QB - Jeff Driskel - 6'3" - 225 - 4.5 forty - Oviedo, FL - AU/FL/LSU/UGA/N.D. - U.S. Army All-American. May be the top dual-threat QB in high-school football. Some have even compared Jeff to Tim Tebow. Whether Driskel is the next Tebow is yet to be seen but he does have an amazing arm, can make any throw needed and has more than enough athletic ability and speed to buy time in the pocket. He will commit this summer and I expect it to come down to AU or FL.

QB - Kiehl (Kyle) Frazier - 6'3" - 215 - 4.6 forty - Springdale, Ark - AU/ARK/LSU/Miami/Mich/N.D. - Staking his claim to the best dual-threat QB in high-school football is Kiehl Frazier. He put up ridiculous numbers as a junior, throwing for 3,817 yards and 48 TD's. He also ran for 746 yards and added 14 more TD's on the ground. Auburn would love to get Frazier and so would everyone else in the country. Right now, he seems to be wide open. - Highlight Video

QB - C.J. Uzomah - 6'5" - 235 - 4.7 forty - Suwanee, GA - AU/AL/UGA/Clem/LSU/Miami/UNC/TN - Uzomah is a little more raw than Driskel and Frazier, but he has tons of tools to work with and a lot of upside. He's very smart at the QB position and usuallt makes a good decision with the ball. He also has very good agility and moves around in the pocket well. He has offers from everybody and it's anybodys guess as to where he'll land at this point.

QB - Michael Brewer - 6'1" - 175 - 4.7 forty - Austin, TX - AU/TX Tech/Clem/Baylor - Auburn has offered Brewer and would love to have him. There's only one problem. His father and his grandfather both played at TX and Michael is steeped in TX football. If they offer, he'll commit and as a matter of fact he might even grayshirt just so he can go to TX. You never know what will happen in recruiting though and Auburn is maintaining contact. - Highlight Video

QB - Stephen Rivers - 6'6" - 200 - Athens, AL - TN/UCLA/Stanford/NC State/Arizona St/AU/AL - Younger brother of Phillip. He has offers already from some big schools in TN, Arizona St. and UCLA. A lot of schools, including Auburn are following him very closely and could offer at any time. Stephen has already visited AU and if Auburn were to offer, I think they would be in pretty good shape. - Highlight Video

QB - Chris Nelson - 6'2" - 225 - 4.6 forty - Theodore, AL - AU/AL/TN/Ole Miss/UCLA/UAB - Nelson does not have an offer from Auburn right now but he is definitly one to watch. With a good senior year his stock will sky-rocket.

RB - Isaih Crowell - 5'11" - 190 - 4.4 forty - Columbus, GA - AL/UGA/FSU/Clem/AU/TN/LSU - Crowell has offers from everybody and is easily one of the top 5 RB's in the class of 2011. He has outstanding speed and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. FSU and AL have been rumored to be the early favorites, but he's still wide open a this point. If AU can get a visit, don't rule them out. Highlight Video

RB - Demarcus James - 5'9" - 215 - 4.5 forty - Demopolis, AL - AU/AL/Ole Miss/Miss St./Ga Tech - James seems to be a guy that everyone is watching. If he has a big senior year, there is no doubt the offers will start rolling in. AU, Ole Miss, Miss St. and AL are all keeping close watch on Demarcus and he'll more than likely end up in the SEC somewhere.

RB - Brent Calloway - 6'1" - 210 - 4.6 forty - Russellville, AL - Calloway is committed to play LB at AL. However if he decides that he would rather play offense than defense, Auburn could be his choice on signing day. It will take a lot to get him away from Tuscaloosa, but expect Auburn to fight all the way to signing day.

RB - Quan Bray - 5'11" - 180 - 4.4 forty - Hogansville, GA - Clem/Miami/UGA/AL/AU - Bray played QB for his high-school team last year but expects to play RB at the next level. Bray is an outstanding RB prospect with great athleticism and speed. Bray has offers from just about everybody in the country and right now he seems to be favoring Clemson, Miami, UGA and AL. Auburn is fighting for a visit though and have officially offered. If AU can get him to visit, they've got a shot.

RB - Aaron Green - 5'9" - 175 - 4.4 forty - San Antonio, TX - TX/USC/UGA/AL/AU/TN/OK/N.D. - Green is a lightning fast speed back who might actually be a little faster than his listed 4.4 speed. He has offers from everybody and he's already been to TX who has rolled out the red carpet for him. Auburn's trying to get in there with him, along with everybody else. Highlight Video
RB - Alonzo Harris - 6'1" - 205 - 4.6 forty - Gadsden, AL - AL/FSU/TN/AU - Harris already has offers from some big schools. FSU, TN and AL have all offered. TN, N.D., LSU and AU are all watching Harris closely and offers from those schools could come at any time. Harris is an excellent student and should have no problems qualifying. Highlight Video

          • WR - Danny Woodson Jr. - 6'2" - 200 - 4.5 forty - Mobile, AL - AU/AL
          • WR - Shamir Jeffery - 6'2" - 195 - 4.6 forty - St. Matthews, SC - AU/S.Car/TN/KY/Ga Tech
          • WR - Daryl Collins - 6'0" - 190 - 4.5 forty - Gadsden, AL - AU/AL/TN/LSU/USC
          • WR - Collins Moore - 6'2" - 185 - 4.5 forty - Madison, AL - AU/AL/Clemson/UCLA
          • WR - Ty Montgomery - 6'0" - 205 - 4.5 forty - Dallas, TX - Committed to Stanford, but AU continues to recruit him. - Highlight Video
          • WR - Nickolas Brassell - 6'2" - 175 - Batesville, MS - Ole Miss/Miss St./LSU/AU/AL
          • TE - Collin Jarbo - 6'4" - 200 - Gadsden, AL - AL/AU/FSU/Clemson/KY
TE - Jay Rome - 6'6" - 240 - Valdosta, GA - AU/AL/UGA/FL/FSU/N.D./S. Carolina/TN/Michigan - Rome recently picked up an offer from Auburn to add to his list of nearly 20 offers. Among them FL, FSU, UGA, AL, S. Carolina and N.D. He claims Clemson, UGA and FL are his top teams but it's still very early in the process and he plans on taking his visits before he makes a decision. If AU can secure a visit, I expect the Tigers chances to go way up in landing him.

          • OL - Spencer Region - 6'6" - 330 - Cullman, AL - AU Commit - Highlight Video
          • OL - Reese Dismukes - 6'3" - 272 - Spanish Fort, AL - AU/AL/FSU - He likes all 3 but is probably an AU lean at this time. Projected as a center in college.
          • OL - Brey Cook - 6'7" - 315 - Springdale, Ark - AU/Ark/OK/AL
          • OL - Watts Dantzler - 6'7" - 315 - Dalton, GA - AU/UGA/TN/AL/FSU - Highlight Video
          • OL - Jordan Prestwood - 6'6" - 250 - Plant City, FL - AU/N.D./FSU/S.Car/USF
          • OL - Jamar Lewter - 6'7" - 265 - Washington, D.C. - AU/UNC/Pitt/Utah
          • OL - Antonio Richardson - 6'6" - 285 - Nashville, TN - TN/UGA/AU/AL/FL/KY
          • OL - Gregory Robinson - 6'5" - 296 - Thibodaux, LA - AU/LSU/Ark
          • OL - Christian Westerman - 6'5" - 290 - Chandler, AZ - AU/N.D./FL/LSU/OK/UGA
          • OL - Thomas O'Reilly - 6'3" - 315 - Marietta, GA - AU/Ga Tech/N.C. St/Vandy
          • OL - Denzel Lott - 6'3" - 295 - Pritchard, AL - AU/AL/UAB
          • OL - Thomas Williams - 6'4" - 290 - Pritchard, AL - FSU/AU/AL
DE - Ray Drew - 6'5" - 245 - 4.7 forty - Thomasville, GA - AU/TN/USC/AL/LSU/FL/UGA/Ga Tech - Ray Drew is another player who has offers from a who's who of the college football world. He says at the moment he favoring playing at either FSU or UGA but he won't make his decision until closer to signing day. That gives AU and other schools plenty of time to secure a visit and try to do what they can to land his services. Drew has close to 20 offers at this time so look for his recruitment to be hot and heavy.
DE - Sterling Bailey - 6'5" - 235 - 4.7 forty - Gainesville, GA - S.Carolina/Clem/AU/UGA/FL/Ga Tech/TN - Bailey doesn't have a top list of favorite schools at the moment but he's already been to S. Carolina, Florida and Clemson. Not to mention he already liked the hometown UGA Bulldogs. Auburn is throwing their hat in the ring as well and is trying to secure a visit from Bailey before he makes his decision. They've got plenty of time, as he doesn't expect to make a decision any time soon. If Auburn can get him to visit, expect them to make his decision tougher.

DE - Xzavier Dickson - 6'3" - 240 - Griffen, GA - AU/AL/FSU/Ga Tech/Miss St. - Dickson is being recruited by everybody and he has an offer from AU. His recruitment is far from over though. He grew up a Georgia fan, claims AL as his leader, but really likes AU and FL too. I expect his decision to be a fierce recruiting battle that may go until signing day.

DE - Keymiya Harrell - 6'6" - 235 - Plantersville, AL - AU/AL/FL/LSU/UGA/Clemson - Harrell has an offer from AU and visited the plains in January. He's also receiving a lot of interest from other schools across the southeast, including UGA, FL and AL. As it stands right now, he seems to be leaning towards Auburn but will take his visits before making a decision.

          • DE - Jabrian Niles - 6'3" - 225 - 4.5 forty - 300 Bench - Mobile, AL - AU/AL/FL/FSU/Ole Miss - Niles grew up an AU fan and really likes Auburn, but AU hasn't offered yet. He does have offers from a lot of other big time schools such as FL, FSU, Ole Miss and AL and it wouldn't be surprising to see AU offer soon, as they are recruiting him hard. If AU offers, expect them to be the odds on favorite for his signature.
          • DE - Kameron Wood - 6'4" - 220 - 4.6 forty - Birmingam, AL - AU leads
          • DE/DT - LaMichael Fanning - 6'6" - 285 - Auburn, AL - AU/AL/UGA/TN/UNC/Clem
          • DE/DT - Deion Nickson - 6'1" 225 - Brundidge, AL - AU is watching closely. Cousin of Chris Nickson.
          • DT - Samuel Harvil - 6'1" - 255 - 530 Bench - Springdale, Ark - Kansas St./OK/Ark/AU - Highlight Video
DT - Gabriel Wright - 6'3" - 275 - 395 Bench - Columbus, GA - AU/AL/UGA/FSU/UNC/S. Carolina - Wright is one of the top players in high-school this year reguardless of position and good DT's are hard to find. He has offers from everybody, including FSU, UGA, AL and AU. Right now he says AL is on top with FSU just behind them but AU is trying to get in the race for his services. Look for AU to try and get a visit out of the big DT before it's over with. Highlight Video
          • DT - Gavin Rocker - 6'3" - 225 - Tyrone, GA - AU is watching very closely. Son of David Rocker and nephew of AU defensive line coach Tracy.
          • DT - Seth Thomas - 6'2" - 265 - Madison, AL - AU/AL
          • DT - Bo Tillman - 6'6" - 280 - Wesson, MS - AU/Miss
          • LB - Denzel Perryman - 6'0" - 200 - Coral Gables, FL - AU/FL/FSU/UGA/LSU/TN
          • LB - James Vaughters - 6'2" - 235 - 4.6 forty - Tucker, GA - AU/AL/FL/UGA/USC/TN/Ohio St. - Highlight Video
LB - A.J. Johnson - 6'3" - 225 - 4.6 forty - Gainesville, GA - AU/AL/TN/UGA/USC/UNC/Miami - Johnson committed to TN last summer but backed out of that verbal commitment when Lane Kiffen left for USC. He has now reopened his commitment and isn't expected to make a decision any time soon. His early list of favorites are TN, Miami and UGA but AU is trying desperatly to get him to visit.

          • LB - Chris Landrum - 6'2" - 215 - 4.6 forty - Sweet Water, AL - AU/AL/FSU/Clemson
          • LB - Shaquille Roberson - 6'3" - 210 - Notasulga, AL - AU/AL
          • LB - Devaunte Sigler - 6'4" - 225 - 4.6 forty - Mobile, AL - AU/AL/UAB
          • LB - Eddie Johnson - 6'1" - 205 - 4.6 forty - Selma, AL - AU is showing interest.
          • LB - Desmond Willis - 6'1" - 215 - 4.5 forty - 390 Bench - 570 Squat - Lincoln, AL - Clemson/KY/AU/AL
          • LB - Desmond Lavelle - 6'0" - 225 - 4.6 forty - Decatur, AL - AU/AL/UAB
          • LB - Maleki Harris - 6'3" - 195 - Cordova, AL - AU/UAB - Highlight Video

          • LB - Demarcus Sherod - 6'2" - 225 - 4.7 forty - Decatur, GA - AU/OK/Oregon - AU leads early.
LB - Matthew LeFlore - 6'3" - 215 - 4.6 forty - Cordova, TN - LeFlore has ties to Auburn as his cousin is AU starting safety Darren Bates. LeFlore doesn't have a ton of offers right now, but AU, TN, Louisville and Ole Miss are recruiting him pretty hard and offers could come any time from those schools. LeFlore will be in Auburn for the A-Day game and if the Tigers offer I expect him to commit. All reports say he is leaning heavily to AU and is just waiting on an offer.

LB - Blake Dees - 6'0" - 235 - Spanish Fort, AL - Tx Tech/AL/AU - Dees only has a few offers at this time, one of which from Tommy Tuberville's Tx Tech squad. He is however, being activly recruited by AU, AL, FSU and others. He did grow up an AL fan and it will be tough to pull him away from James Willis who has been recruiting him since he was at AL but if AU offers and gets a visit from him, AU could very well be in the thick of getting his signature.

CB - Josh Turner - 6'0" - 185 - 4.4 forty - Oklahoma City, OK - AU/OK/TX/N.D./Neb/Wisc. - Turner already has over 20 scholarship offers. He is a two-sport standout and also excells in basketball. So far Turner has been making the rounds in the midwest, seeing schools like TX and OK St. AU recently offered Turner and is trying to get in the sweepstakes for his services. Turner claims to be wide open at this point. Highlight Video
          • CB - Jonathan Rose - 6'2" - 170 - 4.5 forty - Leeds, AL - Very Strong AU Lean. Son of Charles Rose who played safety for Auburn in the 90's.
          • CB - Jacquese Kirk - 5'11" - 165 - Jasper, AL - USA/UAB/AU
          • CB - Cameron Martin - 6'2" - 170 - Mobile, AL - Has an early offer from AU.

S - Malcolm Mitchell - 6'1" - 170 - 4.4 forty - Valdosta, GA - UGA/FL/AL/AU - Mitchell has started receiving offers from several of the big SEC schools already. He could play corner or safety in college football because of his size and speed. Speculation is he may be leaning to UGA as it sits right now, but he says he's wide open. He's been to UGA and FL but AU has recently offered and is hoping to get a visit from him sometime this summer.

          • S - Izauea Lanier - 6'1" - 190 - 4.5 forty - AU Commit

          2. Fantastic list. Seems strange to suddenly be on the outside looking in at most of the elite offensive talent. I'm sure our coaches will make up ground and eventually we'll be the team to beat for some of these guys, but right now we seem to be a step behind on the "big cats".

Aaron Green is now my 2011 must have recruit. He is sick fast.

          3. Marmot, it does kind of seem that way, but it's still so early that things can change in a heartbeat. The other thing to consider is AU is now recruiting nationally for all of the big time recruits around the country. Whenever you do that it's a little different. You have to secure visits and sell the program to guys who may not have been as familier with AU as guys from say Georgia and Mississippi. When the dust finally settles I think we'll have a top 10 class again and be really proud of the ones we get. Oh, and I agree...Aaron Green is awsome.
